Lotto Max Casino App reviews: what players actually say

No app is called "Lotto Max Casino". People mean their province's official app, which sells LOTTO MAX and runs a casino in one account. Here is what the latest written App Store reviews of those apps, and of the unofficial "Lotto Max" app, praise and complain about.

Whose reviews did we read?

Since no app carries that name, we read the official apps that sell LOTTO MAX, most of which also run a regulated casino. On 4 November 2026 we pulled the 100 most recent written reviews from the Canadian App Store for six official apps: OLG, Loto-Québec, Atlantic Lottery, BCLC Lotto!, Lotto Spot! and Play Alberta. We added BCLC's separate PlayNow Slots casino app (17 reviews) and the unofficial "Lotto Max" app by Polus Ventures (32). That makes 649 reviews.

Themes were counted by keyword, so every count is approximate. We paraphrase rather than paste, and we give no star scores of our own. To check whether an app is genuine first, see our Is it legit? page.

Why does a 4.75-star app get so many one-star reviews?

OLG Lottery & Online Casino shows 4.75 stars from 392,302 ratings. Its 100 most recent written reviews average 3.10, with 40 one-star reviews against 47 five-star. Every app we checked shows the same gap: the six official apps with a full sample have lifetime averages of 4.25 to 4.75, while their latest written reviews average 1.69 to 3.10.

Neither number is fake. The lifetime figure counts every quick star tap since launch, mostly from people who bought a ticket without trouble. Written reviews skew to people with a problem: a crash on draw night, a withdrawal on hold, a scanner that won't read a ticket. One shows how most users feel; the other, what is going wrong now.

How to read lottery app reviews

  • Check the dates. Complaints that start together usually point to one bad update.
  • Count patterns, not stories. The same complaint in 20 or 40 reviews out of 100 is a real issue.
  • Separate bugs from luck. Never winning describes the odds; crashes and stuck withdrawals are things an app can fix.
  • Check the publisher. Reviews of an unofficial checker say nothing about your lottery's own app.

Watch the date spans: OLG's 100 reviews cover about two months, Atlantic Lottery's more than a year, so some of those describe older versions of the app.

Lifetime rating first, then what the latest written reviews keep coming back to. "About 8 of the 100" means roughly eight reviews mention that theme.

OLG Lottery & Online Casino

Ontario

4.75 ★

from 392,302 ratings · latest 100 average 3.10

Praise
Quick, convenient LOTTO MAX purchases, a theme in about 8 of the 100. It also has the best recent mix here: 47 five-star reviews against 40 one-star.
Complaints
About 11 of the 100 say they never win or call it rigged; about 8 mention withdrawals, 7 ticket scanning, 7 updates, 6 location confirmation and 5 logins. Typical cases: accounts suspended pending document checks, missing reset emails, an app one reviewer could use on an iPad but not an iPhone.
Bottom line
Bad luck aside, the problems are mostly about account access. OLG player support: 1-855-978-7529.

Loto-Québec

Québec

4.69 ★

from 261,106 ratings · latest 100 average 2.80

Praise
Re-checking tickets bought at a retailer from inside the app. Many reviews are in French, and 34 of the 100 gave five stars.
Complaints
Launches that take one to two minutes, an app that wouldn't open after an update, no way to link a bank account for withdrawals since June, and some worry about account security. 43 gave one star.
Bottom line
A handy ticket checker inside a slow app. Take money or account problems to Loto-Québec's own support.

Atlantic Lottery Mobile

4.58 ★

from 84,282 ratings · latest 100 average 2.57

Praise
The casino: live blackjack, the variety of spins and the AL Rewards points players collect. 33 of the 100 gave five stars.
Complaints
About 18 of the 100 say they never win and about 9 complain about updates. Others cite slow account set-up support (one waited five to six weeks for a reply) and proof requests before withdrawals. 52 gave one star.
Bottom line
Good marks for the games, weaker ones for support. Have your documents ready before you cash out.

BCLC Lotto!

British Columbia

4.55 ★

from 110,126 ratings · latest 100 average 2.62

Praise
It sells LOTTO MAX, runs subscriptions and scans tickets; 31 of the 100 gave five stars. The repeated themes are almost all problems.
Complaints
Crashes and glitches in about 17 of the 100, including crashes mid-purchase and one purchase that went through only after the draw had closed. About 12 mention deposits or payments and 11 ticket scanning. 47 gave one star.
Bottom line
Shaky at checkout, so don't buy in the last minutes before a draw. BC's casino is on PlayNow.com, not in this app.

Lotto Spot!

AB · SK · MB · YT · NWT

4.69 ★

from 119,126 ratings · latest 100 average 1.69

Praise
No casino here: it sells LOTTO MAX in-app in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and select Yukon and NWT locations, and checks tickets. Only 6 of the latest 100 gave five stars.
Complaints
The sharpest drop in the sample: about 41 of the 100 mention the ticket scanner, 29 crashes, 24 buying, and 20 say trouble began with an update. The scanner freezes after one ticket, or the app crashes on opening. 65 gave one star.
Bottom line
A well-liked app in a rough patch. Install new versions, keep paper tickets until they're checked, and note the checker hours: 5 am to 4 am CT.

Play Alberta Casino & Sports

Alberta

4.25 ★

from 4,995 ratings · latest 100 average 1.95

Praise
Short and keen: one review calls it "Best in Alberta", another says the app has clearly improved. 15 of the 100 gave five stars.
Complaints
Money, mostly: about 17 of the 100 mention deposits, 15 withdrawals and 16 rigged games or constant losing. About 13 are about support (one says the reps are US-based); others describe an account closed despite sending ID, and glitchy logins. 64 gave one star.
Bottom line
The newest of the six main apps, released in October 2024. Expect ID checks before your first withdrawal, and set limits with GameSense.

PlayNow Slots: Online Casino

British Columbia

2.31 ★

from 29 ratings · 17 recent reviews average 1.59

Praise
Very little. This is BCLC's separate iPhone casino app, alongside PlayNow.com, and only 1 of its 17 written reviews gave five stars.
Complaints
13 of the 17 gave one star, mostly over a deposit-match promotion that came with a large playthrough requirement, and over wins that felt too small.
Bottom line
A tiny sample, but a fair lesson: read the wagering terms before you accept any deposit match.

"Lotto Max" by Polus Ventures

Unofficial

4.59 ★

from 7,217 ratings · 32 recent reviews average 2.62

Praise
Results, prize breakdowns, MAXMILLIONS and MAXPLUS numbers, regional add-ons, a manual ticket checker and notifications. 11 of the 32 gave five stars.
Complaints
18 of the 32 gave one star, in reviews going back to 2013. One recent reviewer titled theirs "NOT The official lotto App", and they're right: Polus Ventures Limited is not a lottery, and the app can't sell tickets or pay prizes.
Bottom line
Fine for looking up numbers. To buy LOTTO MAX or play casino games, you need your own lottery's app.

What app reviews can't tell you

Reviews are good at spotting bugs and poor at judging fairness.

Odds

The odds are fixed and published

Every $6 LOTTO MAX play has a 1 in 33,446,140 shot at the jackpot and about 1 in 5.8 at any prize, whichever app sold it. An app claiming to improve that is a red flag.

Luck

A losing streak isn't proof of rigging

Random results include long runs without a win, in the lottery and at the casino. That is the odds at work, not a fault in the app.

Withdrawals

Most withdrawal holds are about verification

Document checks and proof requests are how a regulated lottery confirms your age and identity before paying out. If one drags on, contact the lottery's own player support.

Complaints

Regulators have a complaint route

If support doesn't sort it out, a regulated operator answers to a regulator: in Ontario, OLG is regulated by the AGCO (1-800-522-2876). A one-star review is not a formal complaint.

Four habits that head off the most common complaints

  1. 1

    Keep the app updated

Many complaints start with an update, but fixes arrive the same way. If a new version won't open, watch for the next one.

  2. 2

    Turn on location services

You must be in the province to buy or play online. Allow location for the app; a VPN can fail the check. More on our login help page.

  3. 3

    Have your ID ready

Withdrawal holds and document requests come up again and again. Keep your ID to hand before you cash out, and answer requests only in the app or on the lottery's own site.

  4. 4

    Set limits before you play

Atlantic Lottery's PlayWise offers deposit limits and breaks; Play Alberta has GameSense. Set limits before your first deposit.

Read the reviews, then play on your terms

Check the publisher, set your limits first, and only play with money you can afford to lose.

Frequently asked questions

Are there reviews of a Lotto Max Casino app?

Not under that name: no lottery publishes an app called Lotto Max Casino. People mean the official provincial apps that sell LOTTO MAX and run a casino, such as OLG, Loto-Québec and Atlantic Lottery. We read 649 recent App Store reviews of those apps and of the unofficial Polus "Lotto Max" app.

Why are lottery app ratings high but recent reviews so negative?

Lifetime ratings include every quick star tap since launch, mostly from satisfied users; written reviews lean towards people with a problem. So the six main official apps sit at 4.25 to 4.75 stars overall but 1.69 to 3.10 across their latest 100 written reviews.

Which official app has the best recent reviews?

OLG Lottery & Online Casino, averaging 3.10 across its latest 100 written reviews, with more five-star (47) than one-star (40). Lotto Spot! had the weakest recent run of the main apps, at 1.69. Each app only works in its own province, so this is for interest rather than choice.

Are lottery apps rigged, as some reviews say?

A losing streak is not evidence of rigging. LOTTO MAX odds are fixed and published: about 1 in 33,446,140 for the jackpot and 1 in 5.8 for any prize per $6 play, in every app. Under the Criminal Code, only a provincial government may conduct and manage lottery schemes.

Is the "Lotto Max" app by Polus Ventures official?

No. It's a results and ticket-checking app from a private company, and it can't sell tickets or pay prizes. To buy LOTTO MAX online, use the app published by your provincial lottery corporation.

Play responsibly.

A good share of the complaints we read were about losing. A lottery ticket is entertainment, and so is a casino session; neither is a plan. Use the limit tools in your lottery's app, such as Atlantic Lottery's PlayWise deposit limits and breaks or Play Alberta's GameSense.
